New York had a huge snow storm on Thurs. and Central Park got almost 19 inches of snow. I had lunch with some girls from the ward and headed to Central Park after that to see all the snow. While I was walking there everyone was coming out of the park with sleds adults and children. I guess it doesn't matter the age Central Park is everyone's playground here.
All this snow is covering a lake!
Couples, children, teenagers, and adults were building snowmen everywhere.
Lots of people brought their kids to go sledding down what they consider "hills".
This cute couple were having a snow ball fight and the snow is up to their waist.
Brittnee is the smart one and got cute rain boots right when she got here. I on the other hand have rain boots, but I never wear them. They were dirt cheap and I can't stand to walk in them because they are so uncomfortable. All the snow is melting and there is puddles of water or slush everywhere! That is why most people in the winter here wear boots because there is no way of getting around these when they are on every street.
Brittnee and I went to Stardust Diner for her 24th BIRTHDAY! Even though her birthday was on the 17th she wasn't in NYC, so we celebrated it on Saturday. I told Brittnee she could pick wherever she wanted to go and she had heard about this place from a couple of people and they all said that it has a fun atmosphere. The premise behind the diner is that the waiters sing songs from Broadway plays while you eat. It was really fun and we got to listen to quite a few songs. The menu has funny names some of the sandwiches are after Broadway plays. Stardust Diner is also famous because of American Idol two of their staff made it to Hollywood. The food is ok, but the entertainment is great!

These are the best cupcakes ever!!! For Brittnee's birthday we went to Crumb's Bakery even though it was FREEZING. I got her a Cookie Dough cupcake and myself a Cookies n Cream one. Wow mine was amazing as well as hers I am sure... I haven't had one in almost a year I forgot how good they taste. They have so many flavors and I can't wait to try them all! They are really big too, so it takes more than a bite to eat it! YUM...
Brittnee and I had a wonderful experience today and I mean it was truly memorable. I made the picture extra large, so people would understand why I was a little freaked out. I mean look at this suckers LEGS I don't really get scared of spiders or bugs. I hate them don't get me wrong, but I can and do kill them. Brittnee on the other hand HATES any type of insect and will not get near them. She deals with them by putting a cup on top of them, so they can't get out and waiting for me to get home so that I can kill it which is fine, but this was no ordinary spider or random bug. This was the BIGGEST COCKROACH I have ever seen!!!
Here is what happened....I was in my room and Brittnee started to scream. This usually means there is a spider in the apartment and I will have to kill it. So, I walk out of my room and look down and I screamed. The thing was HUGE I have never seen one that big and never had to kill one. My experience with cockroaches so far has been with the dead ones when we go to St. George and my mother vacuums them up and they are gone and I don't have to worry about them till the next time we go. Brittnee called her dad and asked him what to do. She wanted me to throw it out the window, but I was all for the toilet it was closer andI didn't want to give it the chance to run away. I also thought about just letting it die because it was on it back and I knew it would die eventually, but Danny said that would take forever, so I was back to the cup and toilet plan.
Let's just say it took me a long time to get the cup over it like close to fifteen minuets ok maybe twenty. Every time I would look down and see those HUGE legs moving I would freak out. The neighbors probably thought we were being tortured because we were so loud.
All I have to say is that this better not happen again. I don't think Brittnee can take it let alone me. We now have the exterminator coming on Thursday and we will be making appointments every month for him to come as well as sealing off the bottom of our cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen. If I were to get out of the shower and see one another cockroach I would probably have a heart attack.
The last part of my vacation in Utah was pretty uneventful to say the least. After Christmas all it seemed to do was snow and once it stopped snowing I got sick, so I really wasn't able to do much. I did see Tangled which I loved and The King's Speech which is really good as well, but you may find it boring if you don't like those kind of movies. I really enjoy Colin Firth and love to watch his movies. I was hoping that while I was in Utah I would be able to see more movies because they are cheaper, but I didn't because nothing good seems to be out.
One thing I do miss about Utah is the gorgeous sky and mountains after storms. I forgot how frequently in snows in Utah. In NY it snows, but only 4 months out of the year if that and it is very random, so sometimes you won't have snow for a really long time than get a lot at once and have the whole city shut down. I am sad that I missed the first storm of the season like I did last year as well. There isn't any snow on the ground here anymore. I would of liked to of seen how much there was.
Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

Pretty much my two least favorite things in the world are being sick and snow. Yet, that is what my week consisted of. At one point there was twelve inches of snow outside. It is gorgeous, but it sucks being stuck inside because the roads are covered in ice and snow. I really hope that considering I spent the New Years sick I hope this doesn't reflect on how the rest of the year is going to be.
I was not in NYC for the ball drop and I am thankful for that. It was reported that 1.5 million people went was there and most of them had been there all day. Six hours for Rockefeller almost did me in I can't imagine standing all day in the freezing cold to watch a tiny ball drop that I can see when I just walk down the street. That just doesn't really sound fun to me.
The ball is seriously tiny compared to everything around it.
